The invention relates to a method and device for kinesthetically warning the driver of a motor vehicle comprising an object detection sensor in order to prevent or minimize the risk of collisions. In case of a situation with high collision risk, a warning is signalled to the driver, said warning being triggered off by the deceleration means of the vehicle. Said deceleration means are activated in such a way that the deceleration gradient of the vehicle is maximized in time, in particular by building up brake pressure solely on the front axle.
