A new range of low cost temperature sensors on a 1,206-size surface mount chip has been developed by Heraeus Sensor-Nite (see Plate 2). Designed to provide high accuracy, long-term stability and near linear output over the temperature range –50°C to +130°C, these sensors are ideal replacements for thermistors in most temperature measurement or temperature compensation applications.

Plate 2 Heraeus Sensor-Nite has developed a new range of low cost temperature sensors on a 1,206-sized surface mount chip

Based on established thin-film platinum technology, sensors are available as 100ohm or 1,000ohm devices in two standard tolerance classes. Temperature coefficient is positive and complies with the DIN EN 60751 specification. Maximum drift over 1,000 hours at 130°C is 0.06 per cent.

Sensors are supplied in blister reels which are compatible with the latest automated assembly techniques. They are suitable for use in high volume applications within the electronics, automotive, white goods and energy management industries.
