Colour image acquisition board delivers high-performance inspection despite lighting variations
Keywords Acquisition, Colour, Conversion
National Instruments has announced a new colour image acquisition board that maintains high-performance, high-quality image captures despite lighting variations. The IMAQ™ PCI1411 offers machine vision developers real-time colour conversion of NTSC, PAL, and S-Video formats to the hue, saturation, and luminance (HSL) image planes. Because the hue plane is effective for analysing images where shadows and lighting gradients are present, the IMAQ PCI-1411 makes inspection systems more reliable. With this new board, industrial inspection and scientific imaging developers can increase the reliability and performance of numerous applications, including inspecting light emitting diodes (LEDs), fabric and textiles, colour paint and powder, pharmaceutical blister packs, and in typical monochrome applications where lighting is difficult.
About the IMAQ PCI-1411
With real-time colour conversion to HSL image planes and partial image acquisition with programmable region of interest, the IMAQ PCI-1411 improves overall image acquisition and image processing speed. The IMAQ PCI-1411 excels when lighting is inconsistent or when shadows, reflections, and lighting gradients could occur within the image scene. National Instruments ships the LMAQ PCI-1411 with easy-to-use NI-IMAQ™ driver level software, which offers a comprehensive software interface for image acquisition. With the software, vision system developers can quickly and easily start applications without having to program at the register level (see Plate 7).
Plate 7 The IMAQ PCI-1411 color image acquistion board from National Instruments offers real-time hue, saturation and luminance color conversion, bringing more reliability and speed to inspection systems. Performance of the PCI-1411 excels even when shadows or reflections affect the field of view.
