Sensing systems are typically made up of many components. However, DigiSense developed by engineers at Spectrol Electronics Corp., Ontario, California, eliminates limit switches, microswitches, wire harnesses, and assembly labour costs.
Combining a new conductive-plastics resistive element with digital Silver-in-Glass technology, lets the DigiSense sensors survive 300 million cycles. The DigiSense uses standard housing, bushing, shaft, and pin configurations. The key is the conductive-plastic polymer which is screened and kiln-fired to withstand temperatures from 40 to 150°C. The sensor has a smooth output signal that exhibits extremely low noise, and has practically infinite resolution.
Applications include material-handling equipment, motor-controller actuators, industrial controls, and throttle-position sensors.
