Keywords Position sensing, Sensors

The Macro Sensors R1380 (Plate 9) series of rotary inductive position sensors, have now been added to the established line of Macro's renowned LVDTs and offer non-contacting, inductive high resolution and high reliability performance. They accurately measure angular displacements of ±50°. These industrial duty rotary sensors are rated at ±50° or 0 to 100° providing a linearity of ±0.25 per cent. Able to rotate a full 360° a mounting flange is provided permitting fine mechanical adjustment of the initial zero position.

They feature a contactless inductive technology that does not degrade with time or number of cycles, thus providing high reliability for critical industrial and process applications. The ruggedly constructed units have a stainless steel housing with shaft seals environmentally sealed to IP66 rating.

Available from EuroSensor, the UK and European distributor for these devices, they are all provided with zero and span controls permitting the user adjustment of full-scale output as well as zero trim. The integral electronics operate from ±15Vdc, yielding a ±10Vdc full-scale output. Additional I/O configurations include regulated 5Vdc excitation with 0.5-4.5Vdc output and 2- or 3-wire 4-20mA output units.

Application areas include quarter turn process control valves, machine index feedback and other factory automation and process scenarios.
