New range of extrusion sensors

The Kistler melt pressure sensors, types 4086/87A and 4096/97A, designed for measuring pressure in the extrusion process, provide an accurate, reliable and repeatable output.

Types 4086/87A give an output of 3.33mV/V and types 4096/97A give a 4-20mA or 0-10V output. Both models incorporate an internal 80 per cent shunt calibration function and are available in ranges up to 1,400 bar. Options include a thermocouple output, rigid stem or combination of rigid and flexible stem.

Both the 4086/87A and 4096/97A feature a unique silicon sensing element which is located directly behind a very rugged diaphragm.

This thick diaphragm makes it possible for it to be cleaned with a bronze or copper wire brush and to withstand abrasive materials. The lack of any type of fill, such as mercury or oil, makes it safe to use in any application, including the extrusion of medical and pharmaceutical products, food and food packaging.

The 4626A series is Kistler's new range of digital panel indicators. Suitable for use with the above sensors, they are also compatible with the industry standard. Features include sensor interrupt detection, Fast-Cal calibration, sensor power supply, comprehensive alarm functions, front panel control, universal power input, analogue output and serial communications interface (see Plate 16 for the full range).
