Following the success of its electrochemical oxygen sensor range launched at the beginning of 1998, Alphasense is now pleased to announce the launch of a range of toxic gas sensors for detection of gases such as carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen sulphide (H2S) and sulphur dioxide (SO2) (see Plate 7).

The new toxic gas sensors are available in two formats, B-series which is 32.2mm in diameter and A-Series which is 20.4mm in diameter. Both sensor models are pin-configured and directly interchangeable with existing competitor products in terms of size, electrical output and connection. This means Alphasense sensors can be used in existing gas detection equipment without any hardware or software alteration.

The range will be further increased with sensors for chlorine (Cl2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and other more exotic gases under development.

A high quality plastic housing is used that is leak, corrosion and shock resistant. So much so, that Alphasense sensors have a leak-free guarantee. Also, the housings are colour coded for ease of use.

In addition, each sensor is passed through the ATAV (Alphasense Test and Validation) system; and advanced, computer controlled system for sensor performance testing. The test program can be specified by the customer to produce a customised sensor performance report. All Alphasense sensors are loaded onto stabilisation racks which monitor sensor condition continuously before final testing. This ensures complete stabilisation prior to validation, a common complaint of competitor sensors.
