Low cost non-contact temperature sensor

Low cost non-contact temperature sensor

Keywords Infrared, Sensors, Temperature

Although the claim has been made many times before, the Convir EL21 is the first non-contact temperature sensor to genuinely make infrared temperature measurement available at the same cost as a conventional thermocouple or resistance thermometer (see Plate 2).

It measures temperatures from 0-250°C accurately and consistently, with an outstanding response time of 250mSec. The 4-20mA output is compatible with almost any indicator, controller, recorder, data logger etc. without the need for special interfacing or signal conditioning.

The compact two-wire sensor is small enough to fit almost anywhere and its rugged stainless steel housing makes it ideal for applications where cleanliness and hygiene are paramount.

The Convir EL21 is easy to install and will operate in ambient temperatures up to 50°C. For more hostile environments or difficult mounting conditions a wide range of accessories is available.
