Kistler's p-T sensor for mould cavity pressure and temperature

Keywords Kistler, Pressure, Sensors, Temperature

Simultaneous measurement of the cavity pressure and the contact temperature of the melt in injection moulding can now be achieved with one sensor, Kistler claims.

Kistler's new p-T sensor type 6190A, which has a front diameter of only 4mm, is ideal for industrial applications for monitoring, controlling and regulating the injection moulding process of thermoplastics, elastomers, thermosetting plastics and SMC.

The sensor has an operating temperature range of 0 to 200°C in the mould, while the diaphragm is capable of withstanding temperatures of up to 450°C in the melt. The pressure range is 0 to 2,000 bar with an overload of 2,500 bar.

The sensor needs to be fitted so that the diaphragm is flush and becomes part of the cavity wall. The sensor is centred in a 4 H7 hole and held in place with a mounting nut.
