Awards for Excellence

Juha HakalaThe National Library of Finland, Helsinki, Finland

is the recipient of the Journal's Outstanding Paper Award for Excellence for their paper

“Archiving the Web: European experiences”

which appeared in Program: electronic library and information systems, Vol. 38 No. 3, 2004

Juha Hakala graduated in 1986 from University of Tampere. His Master's thesis in Information Science analysed the Cranfield I experiment from methodological point of view. From 1987 he has been involved with development of Finnish national library network, since 1997 as the Director of Information Technology in Helsinki University Library – The National Library of Finland. His professional and research interests include metadata in its various forms and management and long-term preservation of digital objects. His somewhat conflicting hobbies include English beers and Italian racing bicycles.
