Inmagic launches Genie

Inmagic Inc., a global provider of content and information management solutions has announced the release of Inmagic Genie – a Web-based solution designed to meet the needs of the expanding corporate information centre. While Genie builds on the popular DB/Text for Libraries, Inmagic has incorporated new features and completely replaced the backend with Inmagic Content Server. Based on Microsoft SQL Server, Inmagic Genie has developed Microsoft.NET technologies to provide a robust Web environment supporting the more sophisticated library staff functions as well as end-user capabilities.

Demand for accessibility to both internal and external information has required that information centres provide systems with the flexibility to manage a wide variety of content both structured and unstructured and make self-sufficiency a priority. With the flexibility of Inmagic Genie, library staff have the ability to manage internal content while also performing back-office tasks including: cataloguing and circulation capabilities; adding new materials to the library catalogue; editing existing materials; all directly from their Internet browser. As part of the Inmagic Content Management Solutions family, Genie can integrate and interoperate within the organisation’s IT infrastructure.

Inmagic is a global provider of content and information management software and services that organise and deliver enterprise content, seamlessly integrate both internal and external content sources, and deploy business-critical information to corporate portals, intranets, extranets, and the Web. Specific applications include market, business and competitive intelligence, library automation, litigation support and Web publishing. Inmagic’s information management solutions are installed in more than 7,000 special libraries and information centres in over 50 countries.
