National training organisation for information services

Our very own National Training Organisation (ISNTO), which is due to replace some of the functions, for example, of the industry lead body for ILS, should receive recognition from the Department for Education and Employment in mid-December 1999. The head office will apparently be in Bradford. It is awaited with eagerness at least by those of us who cannot wait for the revised ILS NVQ standards to be approved and released for use. Sheila Corrall, the University Librarian of Reading, will be the chair of the NTO.

The NTO can only effectively reflect the real needs of the working profession if supported by employers, some 250 of whom have already involved themselves with the body. The contact at ISNTO for expressions of interest is John Pluse, Project Officer, ISNTO, 1st Floor, Glyde House, Glydegate, Bradford BD5 0UP. Tel: 01274 391773.
