Introduction to contributions

Article Type: Introduction to contributions From: Kybernetes, Volume 41, Issue 1/2

It was a pleasure to accept the invitation from Professor Rudall and Annick Cherruault to pay tribute to Yves and be the guest editor of this special issue In Memoriam of Professor Yves Cherruault. It is well known that Yves was a key contributor to Kybernetes and we are glad to have this opportunity for honoring his work.

When this idea of a special issue to honor Yves’ memory came up and we started sending invitations for collaboration, there was an excellente response from the academia in general, but especially from those young researchers that heard in the call about Yves, about his life and were presented with his special dedication to the development of science and mathematics in conflicting countries.

In this special issue, we have chosen, two important and significant papers that Yves already published, which have been selected by Annick. Second, we have also included papers already submitted and approved by Prof. Cherruault and the rest of committee members for publication 2009/2010, other papers which no doubt Yves would also have wanted to publish with his last students and, of course, the rest of papers of invited collaborators.

All the published work here covers a variety of topics, ranging from α-Dense curves theory and applications to global optimization problems, Adomian’s method, Approximation theory, Alysidal Algebra, Zeros of partial sums of the Riemann zeta function, Number theory and others. I truly believe that this selection and the quality of the work presented here will be an amazing tribute to Yves’ memory.

Finally I would like to thank Professor Rudall, Annick Cherruault and all other contributors for giving me this great opportunity to be able to express one more time how much in debt I am with Yves and how we miss him.
