We are most grateful to Professor Gaspar Mora of the University of Alicante, Spain for compiling this special double issue of Kybernetes which is dedicated to the life and outstanding achievements of Yves Cherruault.

He was Emeritas Professor at the University of Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris VI), France, and known globally as the creator and director of the MEDIMAT laboratory. We have already expressed our condolences to his family and would now also wish to thank Madame Annick Cherruault for her help in preparing this issue of dedication, which we know will be welcomed by colleagues and friends worldwide. He was a longstanding, loyal and enthusiastic member of our Editorial Advisory Board (EAB) as well as a prolific contributor and reviewer to this journal.

With his dedicated team of researchers he provided us with an insight into how mathematics and, in particular, mathematical modeling can be used successfully in cybernetics and systems especially for systems in biology, medicine and those found in the industrial world.

Our thanks are also extended to the authors of the papers that have been selected from such an enormous body of research and development for contributing to this commemoration.

This is the first special issue of Volume 41 and others will be published along with our regular ones.
