Body Sensor Networks

Body Sensor NetworksEdited by Guang-Zhong YangSpringer, Heidelberg2006500 pp.ISBN 1-84628-272-1Hardcover: $89.95

The editor of this book believes that despite the technological developments of sensing and monitoring devices there are many issues to be discussed and which will benefit from further investigation.

There is no doubt of the interest in the new sensing and monitoring devices that have appeared during the last decade. These devices have been used in a wide range of applications but of particular interest is their application in healthcare and their use as wearable/wireless devices for clinical use. In all these applications the issues that arise seem to be related to: system integration sensor miniaturization, low-power sensor interface circuitry design, wireless telemetric links and signal processing. There are obviously others, many connected with these chosen ones.

The editor has, however, compiled the book with these at the head of the agenda in this rapidly changing area of wireless wearable and implanted sensors. The text addresses these issues and discusses the latest technological developments and the clinical applications of body-sensor networks.
