PREP 2003

Conferences

PREP 2003

The postgraduate research in electronics, photonoics, communications and software (PREP) series of conferences, intended for postgraduate students, and financed mainly by EPSRC are likely to be continuing for three more years – the funding application has not yet been approved but all the indications are that it will be, and confirmation is expected within a month.

For the PREP 2003 Conference, the date will be early April (the venue should be confirmed soon) and the “theme” for invited keynote speakers is probably going to be Quantum Computing, with the possible inclusion of the implications for Cryptography. Suggestions for speakers are invited (they need not be from UK). Volunteers or suggestions for Session Chairs are also needed.

This has been a most successful conference and those academics working in the fields of cybernetics and systems will find much of interest. In particular, research students are provided with an excellent opportunity for them to meet their peers and to get experience of presenting papers and posters.

It should be noted that in the past the EPSRC[1] has covered accommodation, meals and event costs with only travel costs to be provided by the attendee.
