New Edition of Algorithms Book – Introduction to Algorithms

T.H. Cormen, C.E. Leiserson, R.L. Rivest and C. SteinMcGraw-Hill (College Division)2002ISBN 0-07131511Price: £72.99 (for Hardcover)

This is the second edition of a well-known text. It includes an additional contribution by C. Stein.

It may be recalled that the first edition provided a very full introduction to many of the aspects of algorithmic design, with special emphasis on a number of important topics.

The second edition, we are told, is even better. An initial chapter has been added to “motivate the reader” and an upgrade of the earlier text to reflect the advances of the last 10 years. Some chapters have been omitted which many will be sorry to see removed because of their importance. Linear Programming forms the subject of an additional chapter. The introduction of a chapter on probabilistic analysis and randomized algorithms was welcomed by many potential users. The important feature of the second edition of a book is that it is fully revised and updated to meet current needs. The publishers inform us that this text has been comprehensively revised with fuller descriptions and the additions of more excercises.
