30th Anniversary Cyber-profiles

After the publication of the Special Double Issue Thirty years of Kybernetes (Volume 30 Nos. 9/10 2002) it was agreed that the series Cyber-Profiles which appeared in earlier volumes of Kybernetes, should be revived. To start the series it has been suggested that the first profiles, should be of the Editorial Team who have produced the journal over so many years. The Special issue compiled to mark the 30th Anniversary included tributes to the founder Editor- Professor J. Rose, and we must again add our appreciation of his foresight in publishing Kybernetes We hope that with the co-operation of all concerned with the journal we will be able to feature in future issues some of those involved including, the journal Patrons, Editorial Team members, Advisory Board Members, contributors and referees.

Brian Rudall (UK) has been involved with Kybernetes since its foundation by Professor Rose. He was the section editor for "Contemporary Systems and cybernetics" and became the journal editor in 1987. Thirty years later he still compiles this section and is justly proud of its contribution to the success of the journal. Unlike the early days of the journal it now has a Managing Editor and an editorial team with responsibilities for the various journal sections. He is particularly pleased that the journal has maintained its high standards and believes that it has earned the praise that it has received on its thirtieth anniversary. Prior to taking this appointment he was the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Institution of Computer Science, Joint Editor of Automation and Robotic Times and also an Editorship of Robotica-The International Journal of Information, Education & Research in Robots and Artificial Intelligence which he still retains. He also is an active editorial advisory board member for many other prestigious journals.
