A useful "Who's Who" has been produced in directory form. Based on a new survey conducted by the Directory of Management Consultants in the UK it claims to identify leading management consultants identified in their major activity areas and industrial sectors. The publishers of the directory say that:

The millennium edition of The Directory of Management Consultants in the UK contains one of the most comprehensive surveys of management consultancy ever undertaken. For the first time ever, leading management consultants have been identified in all the major disciplines - including strategy, finance, IT, marketing, human resources, operations and supply-chain. The directory also identifies leading firms which specialise in individual industry sectors. This survey is the result of over 18 months of original research and interviews by a team of journalists headed by editor Carolyn White.

The directory details are :

Management scientists, cyberneticians, systemists and anyone involved with management will be interested in this directory. The publishers believe that:

This new edition of The Directory of Management Consultants in the UK breaks a long standing tradition of secrecy amongst management consultants who have until now preferred to remain silent about the services they are providing for their clients. "Traditionally management consultancy is a world that is shrouded in mystery, making life very frustrating for clients trying to assess which management consultant is right for their needs. Life will be much easier for them now" says Carolyn White. "In future it will be the firms that are coy about their activities that are going to lose out."

Readers are already aware that some directories are not only of poor value but also are produced solely for the purpose of sales to those who are included. The contents listed viz:

  • Over 3,000 consultancies listed, each with speed tables to give an instant snapshot of every firm's specialities (every single entry has been updated for this issue).

  • 14 specialist activity and business sectors analysed by experts in an expanded editorial section. Leading firms are identified in each sector.

  • Biographies of leading consultants.

  • Multiple indexes to guide readers straight to firms which match their criteria.

  • In total, over 800 pages of up-to-date information for consultancies and clients, smartly bound in hardback library covers, gold blocked.

appear to indicate that this directory has been produced to provide a useful resource and review copies are available from the publishers. See also their Website: www.consultancies.com
