Announcements

1. 1.

   A report and details of the WOSC 11th International Congress which was dedicated to the memory of the late Professor Frank. H. George and held at Brunel University, Uxbridge (West London), Middlesex, UK, 23-27 August 1999 will be published in the early issues of Kybernetes, Volume 29, 2000.

2. 2.

   The authors of selected papers presented at the Congress will be asked to review their contributions for publication in the millennium issues (1-10) of Kybernetes, the official journal of WOSC. The deadline for publications will be 1 December 1999.

3. 3.

   Details of the presentation of the Frank H. George Research Award for an outstanding contribution to the Congress will be included in Kybernetes, Volume 29 No. 1, 2000. The award winning contribution will be published in the millennium issues of this journal. The award is sponsored by MCB University Press and will be worth over £3,000 which includes a year’s subscription to Kybernetes and a cash prize of £250.

4. 4.

   Based on discussions with the collaborating researchers of WOSC's Norbert Wiener Institute of Systems and Cybernetics, held at the Congress, a brochure which gives details of its honorary staff and its activities is to be prepared. It will on completion be published in this journal and on the relevant Websites.
