Abstract

Research analysts make investment recommendations and investors, whether retail or wholesale, regard them as experts and important sources of information about the sectors and companies they cover. Many factors, however, can influence an analyst’s independence and objectivity – amongst other things, the investment banking relationships of their employer and aspects of an analyst’s personal financial circumstances.
