The whole issue of Library & Information Briefings for December 2001 was devoted to the University of Leeds. The section on document supply makes for interesting reading."Around 17,000 requests were received from Leeds University staff and students in 1999/2000 for external material. The team also received some 13,000 requests for Leeds material from libraries worldwide. Leeds was able to satisfy 86 per cent."

  • Requests to Leeds University users cost £2 each. The majority of requests, excepting journal articles, are sent to BLDSC at Boston Spa, from whom they received over 12,000 items in 2001/2002. Journal articles are principally requested through LAMDA, a consortium of university libraries sharing journal resources. Leeds joined the consortium in 1997, and is one of the largest LAMDA supply libraries. In 1999/2000 it received over 2,200 articles through LAMDA and supplied in turn 6,700 to other libraries.
