The latest Ingenta Institute study

The interesting work carried out by this institute continues with a study on international site licensing in three phases. One contracted to London's City University will look at the user's perspective (I am so old that I read mathematics at City when it was the Northampton College of Advanced Technology, one of the CATS created by Harold Wilson to train a new generation of graduates with practical skills for industry. MM), one to Donald King, at Pittsburgh University, who will review consortium licensing in the USA, and one to Key Perspectives Ltd who will look at the impact of consortium site licenses on scholarly journal publishers and academic libraries.. The findings from the first phases will be announced and published at the Royal Society, London on 24 September 2003 and at Charleston, South Carolina on 30 October. More details at: www.ingenta.com

Ingenta and BIDS

Ingenta and the JISC are pleased to announce that Ingenta has agreed to take full financial responsibility for the BIDS collection of services commencing 1 August 2002. Formed with JISC funding at the University of Bath in 1991, BIDS has been a pioneer in the delivery of online bibliographic resources and e-journals for the UK higher education sector. Since 1998 Ingenta has successfully operated the BIDS service on behalf of the University of Bath, and although no longer subsidised by the JISC, BIDS will continue to provide services targeted at the UK's higher and further education and research council communities.

Ingenta and Heron

As well as assisting the JISC in conducting a successful exit strategy for BIDS, Ingenta is also in the process of taking financial and managerial responsibility for the JISC's eLib HERON course pack service, currently operated by Stirling and Napier Universities. Ingenta will take full responsibility for HERON from 1 August and links to the HERON service will be incorporated into the BIDS Web site.
