The British Library (BL) have awarded a contract to Manchester Information and Associated Services (MIMAS) at the University of Manchester, for them to make the BL Electronic Table of Contents database, on which the inside service is based, available as a Z39.50 target for the UK HE and FE community. It will give access to over 15 million article and conference paper records in the database. The table of contents alerting feature of the inside service will also be made available at no cost to all UK HE and FE customers. The agreement with MIMAS is to develop the services. The Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) has agreed to funding which will allow the services to be provided via MIMAS until 2003.
