University of Sydney trials direct document delivery
Keywords Delivery systems, Documents, Electronic journals, Academic staff, Australia
The University of Sydney is trailing a new service in unmediated document delivery called DIRECT. Unmediated document delivery allows the user to order full-text articles from a supplier. The document supplier can e-mail, fax or mail articles directly to the end user without library intervention. It is hoped DIRECT will complement the University Library's current document delivery services and the increasing availability of electronic journals and full-text databases.
The trial will only be open to academic staff and postgraduate students who wish to register. Only journal articles that are not available from the University Library's collections will be available. Books can not be obtained through DIRECT but will continue to be ordered via the existing interlibrary loan service.
For more information about DIRECT visit the University of Sydney Library's Web site at: http://www.library.usyd.edu.au
