Fang You is a PhD candidate in the Computer Application Institute at the Zhongshan University of P. R. China, where she is currently working on CAD, CAGD, computer animation, and dynamic modeling. She received her BSc in Textile Material and Design from the North West Textile Science and Technology Institute, China, in 1997, and her MSc in Fashion Design and Engineering from the North West Textile Science and Technology Institute in 2000. Her research interests include computer applications for fashion and textile industry, software engineering management and design especially for fashion and textile CAD and networks, and garment functional design, especially wearing comfort, garment pressure and functional garment design in relation to physiology.

J.M. Wang received his BS degree from Nankai University of China in 1996 and, respectively, the MS degree from his Zhongshan University of China (also called Sun YAT-SEN University) in 1999. Prior to graduation from university, he has been to the University of North Texas of USA as a visiting researcher in 1998. He is currently a lecturer and part-time PhD candidate at the Computer Application Institute of Zhongshan University. He has gained several rewards for his research works in 3D graphics design and geometric product development, especially he received the first class reward of science and technology achievement from the China Education Ministry in 2001. His research interests are in the area of large 3D processing and communication, computer graphics and computer aided graphics design, multimedia and image processing and communication.

Professor Xiaonan Luo is the chairman of Computer Application Institute, Sun Yat-sun University. In December 1991, he gained his PhD in application mathematics from Dalian University of Technology, and did the postdoctoral research of Electronics and Communication in Xidian University from January 1992 to March 1995. He is the visiting Professor of Macau University of Science and Technology and the University of North Texas, USA. His research interests mainly include electronics and communication as well as costume CAD. He has published more than 100 papers and books in domestic and foreign academic journals and conferences, part of which won prizes and/or were included in SCI, EL and ISTP.

Dr Li Yi graduated with BEng. in Textile Engineering in 1982 and MSc in Textile Material Science in 1984 from The North-West Institute of Textile Science and Technology. He gained his PhD in fiber/clothing science from the University of Leeds, England in 1988, and his MBA from the Macquaire University, Australia in 1996. Prior to joining the ITC in 1996, Dr Li worked as a senior research scientist and as project manager in the CSIRO Division of Wool Technology, Australia. With more than 250 scientific publications and patents, he is a Fellow of the Textile Institute, visiting professors of two universities in China and a member of several professional bodies. He has won a number of awards on research papers and scholarships and serves as a Member of Editorial Board and panel of reviewer for Clothing and Textile Research Journal and as an external reviewer for a number of international journals. His research interests cover textile physics, heat and moisture transfer in textile assemblies, clothing physiology and psychology, smart textiles and apparel products, clothing function and comfort, objective measurement and specification of apparel products, new product development, marketing and consumer research, strategic management in textile and clothing industries. Dr Li's teaching specialisms are in textile material science, fabric structure and properties, textile testing, product development, quality assurance and industrial quality control. He has been invited to give key lectures at a number of international conferences in the area of clothing comfort and functional design, as well as in sustainable competitiveness and core competency development.

Dr X. Zhang graduated with BSc in Textile Machine in 1982 from China Textile University and MSc in Mechanics in 1989 from ZheJiang University; gained PhD from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1998; researched as a postdoctoral fellow in the Institute of Textiles and Clothing of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 1999 to 2001; a member of the Hong Kong Institution of Textile and Apparel, and a member of the Fiber Society of USA.
