Explains how Discovery Communications automated its employee recognition programme so that it recognized good performance more quickly, reinforced company values and encouraged good performance. Describes how the system works and the method used to promote its use globally. Points out that as well a recognizing performance it also encourages it – human resource managers can partner with business units to identify behaviours that they want to encourage and promote these through the recognition scheme. Notes a 2009 survey of award recipients found that they felt more connection to the company, more engagement in their work and more appreciated by the company. ISSN: 1047-3149 Reference: 39AE956
