The Construction Industry Board recently published its free summary guidance note, Good Practice Is Good Business. It is the latest in a series of information leaflets highlighting practices which should be addressed by all clients and the industry to improve everyone's performance on a construction project. The note is designed to be widely copied and distributed throughout companies and their supply chains.

The summary publication provides a "context at a glance" for the guides and Codes of Practice published by the Construction Industry Board. This set of six integrated documents shows how to achieve significant commercial gain through effective project procurement. It also highlights how good practice is about delivering better quality and value-for-money for all stakeholders clients, the industry, and society. It improves construction processes by improving understanding, communication and selection, and through eliminating waste and conflict. Good Practice embodies the principles of clarity, fairness and above all commitment to teamwork.

"Each and every member of the industry should understand, champion and implement good practice wherever possible" said Richard Saxon, Chairman of the Construction Industry Board's Good Practice Panel, which has been charged with improving and promoting good practice within the industry. He welcomed the new document saying "This document sets out the clear relationship between each component of the CIB 'Six Pack'. Its widespread distribution by clients and the supply side will mean more adopters of the guides and Codes will see improved performance. The enhanced working relationships that results, means projects consistently delivered on time, to cost and to the quality required."
