'Contractor's guide to conservation'

"Contractor's guide to conservation"

The Chartered Institute of Building has launched a Contractor's Guide to Conservation as part of its continuing commitment to heritage and conservation. The 16-page booklet provides valuable information and advice to all builders involved in conservation works.

The booklet is intended as an introduction to best practice in work on historic buildings. Among the areas covered by the publication are legislation, materials, skilled labour, cleaning, equipment and safety on site.

The author, Geoffrey R. Sharpe, said, "The aim of the booklet is to look at the differences between present day building methods and those of the past. The advice will be valuable to those who are involved in historic building conservation".

A Contractor's Guide to Conservation is available priced £5.00 from Peter Harlow at The Chartered Institute of Building on 01344 630734.
