Cutting stock control bottlenecks with lasers

Abstract

Bar coded items that can be read quickly and efficiently by lasers are impacting the supermarket and retail industry. But applications can be more far‐reaching than this and similar systems could be used for inventory control, stock checking and even the issue of invoices. Our reporter Bob Austin reports from a recent conference on the subject.
