Abstract

THE MANAGEMENT at the Upper Clyde Shipbuilders' Clydebank Division wear white safety helmets and grey suits and eat their meals in a bright white canteen with waitress service. The labour force in the yard do not always wear their safety helmets, their overalls are uniformly filthy and they queue for meals in their grey, greasy canteen or struggle to get served in D. J. Connoly's bar across the road.
