Cathodic protection for Blyth B Power Station
Abstract
A major step forward in cathodic protection has been achieved at Blyth ‘B’ Power Station, Northumberland, where new equipment giving even and positive distribution of current has been installed on two 350‐MW turbo‐generators for the first time on a commercial basis. The equipment gives increased operating efficiency of heat exchangers, saves maintenance costs because of a reduction of ‘down time’ due to corrosion, reduces power costs, and the possibility of mechanical damage is minimised.
