Abstract

IT is understandable that the science of physics is to‐day associated in the public mind almost exclusively with its more spectacular achievements : atomic energy, space flight and the electronic ‘brain’. Press, television, film and fiction have contributed to this mental attitude and, at first sight and sound, a visit to the 42nd Physical Society Exhibition at the Royal Horticultural Hall, Westminster (March 24th—27th), appeared to confirm it. A little diligent search by your correspondent soon revealed that many other, possibly more familiar, aspects were very ably presented.
