Abstract
The author was fortunate enough to spend some three months in the U.S.A. during 1954, studying the function and status of the Industrial Lubrication Engineer. In all, some 40 plants were visited. These included heavy engineering, automotive, research, oil companies, but were mainly concerned with steelworks. The following observations refer, therefore, to the steel industry.
