INFORMATION AND EFFICIENCY
Abstract
Everybody agrees that we in Britain must have constantly rising levels of industrial efficiency—operating efficiency, development efficiency, selling efficiency. Otherwise our small islands cannot maintain the people who inhabit them; our people cannot continue to constitute a great nation; our sons and grandsons will not receive in their turn the heritage of opportunity which we received; the unique contribution to civilization which Britain has been making for hundreds of years, by her practical demonstration of a sound and fruitful philosophy of politics, sociology and morals, will cease to be made.
