Abstract

Recently, Foreign Policy and the Center for Global Development published the Commitment to Development Index (CDI). The Index ranked 21 rich nations on whether their aid, trade, migration, investment, peacekeeping, and environmental policies help or hurt poor nations. It reported that countries like Japan, the United States, and Australia ranked very low in alleviating poverty in the world. In contrast, countries such as the Netherlands, Denmark and Portugal contributed significantly to helping poor countries and world economic integration.
