Abstract

PERIODICALLY there are announced machine tools that are so radically different and distinctive in their functions from the usual practice, that they create a new method or process. They are outstanding in the field of mechanical achievement and warrant more than the usual classification of a new machine tool. This is particularly true of the Heald Internal Centreless Grinding Machine (Fig. 1) for which Alfred Herbert are the agents in this country. This tool, with its centreless holding principle, revolutionises the present method of internal grinding on many kinds of work.
