Abstract

Expenditures in the calendar year 1980 for research and development in the United States are expected to reach $61.8 billion, according to the annual forecast of Battelle's Columbus Laboratories. This represents an increase of $10.2 billion (19.7 per cent) over the $51.6 billion that the National Science Foundation estimates was to be actually spent for R & D in 1979.
