Dr. W.R. Aitken
(is teaching ‘Old World Intellectual and Cultural Foundations’ to the Dean's Course at the School of Library and Information Science, University of Western Ontario, for the 1971 Summer session. Dr. Aitken, whose work ‘A History of the Public Library Movement in Scotland to 1955’ is reviewed in this issue, returns in September, in time to edit the Winter issue of LIBRARY REVIEW.)

Abstract
A recent survey on book purchases was published by Sales Research Service Limited and reveals some very interesting statistics.
