Abstract

Brittle fracture research. Grants totalling over half a million pounds have been awarded to various University and research bodies by DSIR to investigate and develop materials resistant to brittle fracture. This type of failure has been instrumental in the failure of steel bridges and the collapse of welded tanks and other industrial structures.
