Abstract

Among the thermoplastic materials used in the construction of chemical plant, rigid unplasticised PVC is probably the most widely used and the strongest. Nevertheless, it suffers from the fact that large fabrications are difficult to make for temperatures in excess of 60°C. and even where lower temperatures are concerned large areas require considerable stiffening by means of sections of the same material welded directly to the sheet or by means of metal or timber frames.
