Abstract

UNITED STATES Resistance to iodine tincture. To test their suitability as containers for iodine solutions, the Hastelloys A, B and C, Stellite No. 6 and stainless steels 304, 316 and 317 were subjected to corrosion tests in iodine tincture U.S. Pat. XIV of the following composition: iodine, 20 g.; sodium iodide, 24 g.; dilute alcohol (49½% by volume), a sufficient quantity to make 1,000 cc. A static total immersion test was used, the rate of attack being calculated from the weight loss.
