Abstract

Two solid state cameras and a newly developed image processor have been used to measure the positional deviation of the two leads of a component and control adjustment of the X‐Y table. The system allows the insertion machine to operate without mechanical guides for the leads, allowing insertion of components with different lead pitches and at high density. Application results are reported in this article.
