Abstract

For companies operating at the frontiers of knowledge and technology in business, developing innovative attitudes and strategies is critical to survival. The area of business defined as “high tech” is characterised by rapid change, growth, new companies, instability, fierce competition and considerable uncertainty. Natural selection and survival of the fittest in this area are an undeniable fact of life, and fitness in this context seems directly related to a company's inclination and ability to innovate. Two factors are important in determining whether people working in this environment will innovate:
