Now this is a book that will become very dog‐eared with use. I have been waiting for a book of this calibre for a very long time. A book that explains chemical risk in everyday language without losing the plot or the reader.

Basically, it is three sections covering methodology – explaining flammability, stability, toxicity and dangerous reactions; a list of dangerous reactions – of inorganic chemicals, organic chemicals; and a tables section that covers a wide range of valuable information.

This a real must for the emergency planners desk‐top. What you need to know in a very digestible format about the major chemical hazards that may be in your area either through manufacture or just in transit through it.

The book is well designed and it is very easy to find the information that you require about that potentially nasty chemical substance.

OK, so it is a bit expensive, but it is really worth the money.
