China PCB sales drop and efficiency worsens

Keywords: China, Printed Circuit Boards

(Xinhua News Agency) Sales of printed circuit boards sagged in 2002, though it still made up 11.26 per cent of the total generated by China's top 100 electronics component enterprises. The economic efficiency also worsened.

China's PCB industry has developed rapidly over the past few years, with output increasing year by year. But under the short-term influence of China's entry into the WTO, the PCB import grew much faster than export, leaving US$678 million of unfavourable balance in 2002. Nine of the top 100 suffered a fall in export.

Of the top 100, there are 17 makers of PCB or PCB raw materials. The top five are:

  • Kaiping Elec & Eltek Electronics Co. Ltd

  • Guangdong Shengyi Technology Stock Co. Ltd

  • Elec & Eltek Electronics (Guangzhou) Co. Ltd

  • Dongguan Shengyi Electronics Co. Ltd

  • China Circuit Technology (Shantou) Co. Ltd

In contrast to the sluggishness of the whole industry, four enterprises achieved a big growth in sales revenue. They are the Nanjing Elec & Eltek Electronics Co. Ltd (98.3 per cent), Kunshan City Huaxin Circuit Co. Ltd (57.9 per cent), Bao'an District Shajing Xindai Electronics Plant (21.4 per cent), and Tianjin Pulin Circuit Co. Ltd (21.1 per cent).
