Endress & Hauser to sell Photo Print Electronic

Keywords: Circuit assembly, Manufacturing

Swiss measuring equipment producer Endress & Hauser is to sell its German printed circuit manufacturing subsidiary Photo Print Electronic (PPE) due to the deteriorating situation in the global telecommunications market.

A German agency is currently looking for potential buyers. Endress & Hauser spokesman, Diether Schaudel, declined to comment on PPE's sale on December 5, 2001. In February 2001, PPE said it planned to invest 300 million German marks ($136 mln/153.5 mln euro) in its two German production units and create 552 new jobs by 2003. In June 2001, PPE suspended the investment programme after two major contracts were cancelled. The company posted a loss in 2000 despite a 29 pct year–on–year output increase.
