IPC has selected Walt Custer, President of Custer Consulting Group, to be the 2001 recipient of the Raymond E. Pritchard Hall of Fame Award.

Based on exceptional lifetime achievement, the Hall of Fame Award is IPC's highest level of recognition. It recognizes members who make extraordinary contributions to IPC and the electronic interconnection industry. The award will be presented to Custer at a special luncheon ceremony at the IPC Annual Meeting at the Rosen Center Hotel in Orlando, Florida, on 11 October 2001.

A past recipient of IPC's President's Award for his devotion to the industry, Custer has been an active member of IPC's Technology Market Research Council (TRMC). He served as the vice-chairman of the TMRC Steering Committee and is chairman of the Data Collection Committee, participant in the World Market Statistical Program. Walt has presented specialized, customized market research at TMRC meetings for more than 15 years.

He has participated in long-range planning meetings for both the IPC and TMRC and serves as a member of the IPC Suppliers Council Steering Committee. In addition, he has helped guide the growth of IPC Printed Circuits Expo and served as chair of the Trade Show Subcommittee in 1996.

Custer writes a monthly Market Outlook column for CircuiTree, contributes to the IPC California Circuit Association (CCA) Crowe's Nest and provides a regular column to Global SMT & Packaging on electronic manufacturing services (EMS) business conditions. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian PWB manufacturer, Coretec, Inc.

Prior to forming his own company, Custer was vice president of marketing and sales for Morton Electronic Materials, a global supplier of specialty chemicals and process equipment for the PWB industry.
