Watched by Cyril Newnham, group chairman, Geraint Rees, group CEO, and John Morton, group development director, David officially declared the site open.

Following the opening, David Lidington viewed the new SMD line at the main site in Rabans Lane which forms part of this major investment. This new market sector for Dage Backplane Systems will allow them to produce SMT boards from the smallest size to 20" × 23", high layer count, 7mm thick multilayers and is a direct response to increasing pressure from customers to expand their services.

Dage Backplane Systems designs and manufactures electronic equipment for the mobile telecoms companies and also for the medical industry. Many of Dage Backplane Systems customers are global and an increasing proportion of its turnover is exported, mainly to the USA and Europe, but with an increasing value into China.
