This well-conducted review determined the effectiveness of programmes in nurse-led management for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Included studies had to evaluate clinical service interventions or care packages aimed at improving the management of patients with COPD in the community. The authors appropriately concluded that there was little evidence to support the widespread implementation of nurse-led management interventions for COPD, and that the available evidence was insufficient to determine whether there was any clinical benefit or harm arising from such interventions.
